In the last few years laptops have started a very serious dent in replacement of desktop computers. The prices are significantly and steadily increased its power and functions declined. Although I'm not sure I'd call one of those 12 pounds, 17 inch screen portable laptop, they are still much easier to carry than lugging around a monitor and a rectangular box. I have two laptops (one with about a 15 inch screen netbook, and one that I really have adopted as my model to travel). But some video work I have a few software programs I have work, and a huge media collection, that will never fit or work on a laptop. And given that each new version of my high-end software programs take advantage of the latest hardware features, I'm probably always will need a desktop computer sale.
